What is a Certificate of Destruction?
It is a signed record that your paper was destroyed. It lists the date, the volume we shredded, and how it was destroyed. We email yours the same day. Keep it with your files as proof for audits.
Why use a shredding company instead of shredding in the office?
Proof and time. Rules like HIPAA and the FTC Disposal Rule expect you to dispose of sensitive records so they cannot be read or rebuilt, and an auditor will ask you to show it. A Certificate of Destruction does that. A locked bin also keeps paper secure until it is shredded, and your staff stops losing hours at a desk shredder.
How does the service work?
We place a locked bin at your office and your team drops paper in through the slot. On the agreed day we collect it in sealed bags and log the pickup. We shred it ourselves, and you get your Certificate of Destruction the same day.
Is my paper safe until it is shredded?
Yes. Paper stays in a locked bin, then in sealed bags during transport. We log every pickup and record the time and volume of the shred.
Do you sign a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement?
Yes. Medical, dental and counseling offices need one in place with any company that handles patient records. We sign it before the first pickup.
How is the paper shredded?
We use a cross-cut shredder rated P-4. It cuts paper into small pieces that cannot be put back together.
Who do you work with?
Medical and dental offices, counseling practices, pharmacies, law firms, accountants and tax preparers, and property managers. If your business handles private records, we can help.
How much does shredding cost?
It depends on how much paper you have, how often we pick up, and how far we drive. Send a free quote request and we reply within one business day. Already have a shredding company? Tell us what you pay and we will aim to beat it.
Do you offer one-time shredding?
Yes. Choose One-time shred on the quote form for an office cleanout or a single pickup. Monthly service is also available for steady needs.
What areas do you serve?
All of Wayne County, Michigan, including Detroit, Dearborn, Taylor, Livonia, Westland and Allen Park. We can also cover offices outside the county. See for every city and township.
Is Kahfil Document Services insured?
